Media Plaster develops bold, visually distinctive genre films for the international marketplace.
Based in Vancouver, the company pairs atmospheric storytelling with a clear eye on the market, structuring each project to maximize Canada's film tax credits and funding programs. The company is led by Vancouver-born producer and filmmaker René Brar. His work includes TAYLOR'S WAY, winner of the Audience Prize at the 2009 Potenza International Film Festival; MARTIN'S PINK PICKLE, which premiered at the 2014 Vancouver International Film Festival; and the 2025 horror short AWAY WITH THE FAIRIES, which screened at the Fantasia International Film Festival and the Overlook Film Festival and won Best Horror Film at the Berlin Short Film Festival. Brar's experience spans studio development, independent filmmaking, and the international marketplace, with projects sold to Netflix, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures Television, Virgin Media Television, and Channel 4. He began his career in Los Angeles on Ridley Scott's development team and holds a bachelor's degree in film and a master's degree in religion, both from Yale University.
